A member asked:

I had a transvaginal ultrasound today & cysts were found on my ovaries? how serious is this? i'm 52 & only been in menopause 1 year.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Simple cyst can occur in the menopause and are usually benign (non cancerous). Its more concerning if you have a family history of ovarian and/or breast cancer in your family or if the cyst is complex. It might be a good idea to get a blood test called a ca-125 and to clarify with your provider if the cysts are simple or complex.
