A member asked:

If the emberical cord is covering the genital area can we detect the gender of the baby using ultrasound in week 14?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say : Most are more comfortable with gender assignment after 18-20 weeks although earlier studies may suggest the proper result. The parts are there at 14 wks but the baby must cooperate for the ultrasound to produce clear results. A cord in the way makes it difficult.
