See doctor: Herpetic infections can be treated with oral antivirals such as valacyclovir. If you only have a few outbreaks a year, taking a one week course as needed is helpful. If you have multiple outbreaks a year, a low daily dose suppresses the virus so it does not break out as often. It also limits shedding and transmissibility. Don't worry, talk to a doctor about this issue.
