No: An abdominal ultrasound scan looks at the abdomen, and not at the lungs. It might detect a lung problem if the lung problem extended to the top of the abdomen. The abdominal ultrasound is not intended to detect or look for lung problems.

No: Because of the physics of ultrasound, things that are air containing (like lungs) cannot be evaluated. However, a pleural effusion, which is fluid in the space just outside your lungs, can be seen with ultrasound.

Yes: Lung ultrasound is becoming more and more common. We often do lung ultrasound in the ICU. An abdominal US, if it detects problems with your lungs, will likely be a pleural effusion. It could also detect pneumonia and things like tumors. The vascular ultrasound probes are used to look for fluid overload and pneumothorax.
