Knee contusion: Have it evaluated by your physician with an exam and x ray; ensure that you did not fracture your patella or tibial plateau. In the meantime obtain a cane or crutch, ice and place a light compressive bandage.

R.I.C.E.: Rest the knee. Don't be up on it much. Keep it moving with gentle full range of motion. Ice the knee 3-4x/day x 20-30 min. Try an ace wrap for comfort. While icing the knee, elevate it above your heart while lying down. Try Ibuprofen or Naproxen for pain relief. If not better in a couple days, or you can not walk or bend, then you should proceed to your doctor for x-rays.
