Change med: This medication is a beta blocker and it will affect the heart rate when doing exercise. You can discuss with your doctor to change to different medication when you have problem during exercise.

No.: Metoprolol will make your heart rate lower than it would otherwise be when exercising. However, you can still exercise safely, and you can still get a great workout. Occasionally, people feel that metoprolol decreases their ability to exercise. If this occurs with you, the medication could be changed to something else. There are many blood pressure medications which do not affect heart rate.
