Metoprolol is a: beta-adrenergic blocking agent (beta-blocker); it works by reducing the amount of blood the heart pumps out lowering blood pressure. Nebivolol is a cardioselective beta blocker, meaning it just blocks beta 1 adrenergic receptors; this may result in fewer side effects. It is likely more expensive. It does not significantly lower BP more. Nebivolol may be a better choice if side effects on metoprolol

No proof; individual: While there may be individual differences in their effectiveness (i.e., 1 drug may be more effective in lowering BP in a particular case compared to the other), they are both beta-blockers & both should generally have the same effects (& side effects) population-wide. So it's easy to generalize but hard to individualize. Metoprolol also comes in succinate, long-acting form. TTYD or Use HT Prime.

Pharmacogenetics : meaning that not all patients respond equally to the same drug, so personal variations do exist, and the clinical context plays a role, wish you wellness
