A member asked:

My wrist is broken, no joint involvement. i have had the cast on for 24 hours. the hand is slightly swollen. it wasn't before the cast. is this normal?

Yes but: Swelling after the fracture is common. If there's too much swelling the compression of the circulation or the neurologic system can cause serious problems. If there any questions you should ask your physician.

Yes: Generally with any localized injury such as a fx you will experience swelling , to help reduce this when resting in bed elevate your wrist on a pillow or on your chest.
