A member asked:

Mother 78 been on oxygen since january, lung problems. steroids for 2 months but going off soon do you think she might relapse without steroids?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pulmonary disease: Emphysema, chronic bronchitis (COPD) and asthma are often treated with steroids in the acute setting with a tapering dose after the acute phase has resolved. Patients may be placed on inhaled steroids as well. After discontinuing steroids some patients can relapse. Those are often the patients placed on the inhaled steroids. Moms pulmonologist will know what step to take next.
