What is high BP?: A level of blood pressure that has been proven to shorten ones life and a level of BP that if treated prolongs ones life. The best is to be below120/80. However for treatment we use 135/85 at home as high. At your age above 135/85 at home would be consider HTN that needs to be lowered. Always try DASH diet first.

Persistent > 140/90: Your blood pressure is recorded as two figures. For example, 150/95 mm Hg. High Blood pressure is persistent readings greater than 140/90. This can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Self-help: Lose weight, exercise, eat healthily, reduce alcohol, caffeine and salt. Still high: See your doctor you may need as many as three or four medications for high blood pressure.
