Pain: It depends on the location of the osteomyelitis. You should go back to your orthopedic surgeon. It may be destruction of bone, a fracture or arthritis.

Arthritis: Most likely the infection in your ankle has led to arthritis of the ankle joint and that may be what is causing your pain. The other potential could be recurrence of the infection. You should contact your orthopaedic surgeon or find a foot and ankle orthopaedic specialist at aofas.Org.
