Varies with person: There is no one "best" medication for those diagnoses, as one has to consider the whole person experiencing the problems before prescribing. Also specific responses to previous medications can provide additional info. If Lexapro (escitalopram) doesn't seem to be helping enough, a personalized evaluation with a psychiatrist will yield additional options.

Talk to your doctor : You have several options ranging from switching to another SSRI such as Paxil, Zoloft, or Prozac. Many of my patients have found Effexor helpful. You may also consider Pristiq (desvenlafaxine). Selecting another medication is based on many factors such as side effect profile and cost. A low dose of an anxiolytic can be used temporarily until your new medication starts to work. Hope this help. Best wishes!

PANIC : Best to discuss medication with your Psychiatrist. If uncomfortable with your Dr. consult another for a second opinion. Have a physical exam by a Dr. to determine if you have a physical illness. Consult with a Clinical Psychologist for psychotherapy with ZOOM sessions. Fears and anxiety could be heightened because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Stay safe & hopeful to elevate your immune system.
