Painful: Parotitis is the inflammation of the parotid gland. It is usually caused by dehydration and sometimes salivar gland stones. Patients experience swelling and sometimes significant pain. Treatments requires: warm compress, massage to area, rehydration, sialogogues (anything that makes ur mouth water-sour candy) and antibiotics. Can be worse in diabetics or those with weak immune system.
