A member asked:

When did hiv first infect human beings and where from did it emerge?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

1930's: There is a case from the 1930's that has been retrospectively diagnosed in uk as due to hiv. It is currently felt that HIV got to humans from a simian immunodeficiency virus, either through the butchers who slaughtered the chimps and monkeys for food, or by other means.
