Is red yeast rice better to use than statin drugs like pravastatin?

Statin drugs: There is a far more abundant literature associated with statins than red yeast rice. Given that data base the outcome of using statins is far more predictable.

Use caution: Red yeast rice was included on Consumer Report's recent list of "ingredients to always avoid." List was compiled based on review of research, and concluded that red yeast rice was among the ingredients whose benefit does not justify the risks, which includes kidney, muscle, and liver problems, hair loss, as well as magnification of effects of cholesterol lowering drugs. Please consult MD. Be well.
