Getting to fungus: Clotrimazole will kill fungus...If it gets to it. The fungus under a nail is most active at the interface between good and bad nail. If the medication does not get to that area it can't kill the fungus. Adequate debridement of the nail is very important when using a topical remedy. Liquid forms work much better then creams at getting to the area where the fungus is most active

Tie nail fungus: Unfortunately, toe nail fungus will not respond to topical clortrimazole cream. Creams cannot penetrate the nails. However, these creams are great for fungal skin conditions. See your podiatrist who may prescribe an oral antifungal and cold laser therapy.

Maybe?: The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time. I've seen vaporub work, as well as other natural oil remedies, but rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them.

Clotrimazole fungus: Although this is a topical antifungal, it may not be strong enough to cure anything other than superficial fungus to the toenail itself. The more severe cases, a more aggressive treatment may be necessary to eradicate the fungus.
