It should grow back: If the nail is missing, it should grow back. However, if it is a nail fungus, over the counter creams will generally not clear it up. You should consult your physician.

If the nail is: Hollow, it may be better to just have podiatrist remove the nail and then treat it topically. At this point the nail is not normal anyway. Showering is necessary....And should not interfere. Just make sure to dry toes thoroughly.
