Are they related?: Hard to say. Are these two things related in some way? Is this pain in your waist at the flank, near the back? In the front, abdominally? Do these things come on together? There are so many different possible causes of pain at the center of torso. If you have had the pain for two years, probably not so severe if you have not sought medical attention yet. Check in with your medical doctor.

Pelvic girdle: Pain in waist & low back on one side is compatible with pelvic girdle joint disorder. Generally this pain worsens when lying down & in men can sometimes radiate to anterior thigh &/ or groin on one side. Sciatic pain is often associated with this disorder. Unfortunately, this disorder cannot be detected by imaging studies such as ct scans or mri. The best doctor to diagnose is an osteopath.
