Antibody IgG IgM igA: Cardiolipin (phospholipid) abs r often ordered if stroke, deep vein thrombosis, low platelet counts, abnormal clotting, freq miscarriages, or autoimmune disorder is suspected. Clinical picture is always the guide; (+) test can occur with infections or aging & mean nothing; neg test with clinical concern persisting--repeat in 6 weeks. If DX is anticardiolipin synd, chronic rx is anticoagulation.

Cardiolipin: It is antibody from lupus family as well. Cane be seen in disease as syphilis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis. It can affect pregnancy adversely so the pregnancy with this antibodies is considered high risk.
