What is the difference between over-the-counter hydrocortisone and perscription hydrocortisone val 0.2%?

Stronger: Hydrocortisone valerate 0.2% is actually a mid potency steroid that is stronger than over the counter Hydrocortisone 1% cream. Overuse can lead to thinning and lightening of the skin as well as stretch marks.

Strength : Otc Hydrocortisone is a low potency steroid while Hydrocortisone valerate is more of a mid potency steroid. The "valerate" portion of the molecule is what confers a higher potency to this hydrocortisone.
