Unusual: I'm not sure, in 30 years never had these symptoms. Maybe an allergy to the medication. Don't take it again until you find out.

It is possible: What are describing is what we call anaphylactic shock. It possible to happen with this medication and any other medication. Keep in mind there are few thing included in the shots, novocain, (procaine) the steroid. So it could happen from either one.
