HPV and Cancer: This is not cancer. This is the very scenario that pap smears were designed for: identify who is at risk and get them treated and monitored so that they never get cancer. Your doctors are doing exactly what they should to make sure you never hear the words: "you have cancer" for your cervix. Please be grateful and not scared or worried. There is no reason to be scared.

ASCUS Pap: Ascus with high risk hpv on your pap is telling your doctor to further investigate if there are pre cancer cells on your cervix. This is performed by a test called colposcopy, looking at your cervix under magnification, to identify any abnormal findings on your cervix. A sample of tissue would be taken, a biopsy, and looked at under a microscope to determine a diagnosis.
