You MAY be: Surprised to hear that your diet could be the problem because of its effect on brain chemistry. Traditional treatment is a drug but if your diet contains sugar and sweeteners, stop them and see it makes any difference. It won't happen quickly---it takes time and take a supplement of b complex, some magnesium and a multivitamin.

You left out a lot: When did this begin? Maybe a year or so ago? Did you have a traumatic experience or did this come out of nowhere? Any family history of this? The late teens is when some organic mental disorders appear. In addition ro anxiety you may have an element of OCD. This may be an organic psychiatric disorder, not a character flaw. Don't punish yourself by not seeking professional help.
