Liposonix: Focused ultrasound for noninvasive localized fat reduction (liposonix is the only brand fda approved) is effective for moderate fat reduction around the waist. There is little published experience for using it in other areas. All noninvasive procedures remove less fat than open liposuction. My opinion is that the laser does not add to the effectiveness of liposuction.

Us and laser: Both burst the fat cells. All use some degree of suction to remove the fat debris. It really depends on the experience of the surgeon. There is not much difference in outcome in the right hands.

Not As Effective: Do not confuse non-invasive treatments with invasive treatments. Non-invasive treatments such as external ultrasound, radiofrequency and cooling (cool sculpt) will give you far inferior results compared to true liposuction. In fact, there really is no comparison. However, i recommend that you have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Liposuction: There are now 3 ways to remove unwanted fat, body contour excisional surgery such as tummy tuck (also removes skin), liposuction and externally applied machines (zerona ; coolsculpt). Each has its place. For very localized fat without excess skin, liposuction is still the best. For larger areas without excess skin, the external devices are excellent. I personally prefer zerona as it is painless.
