Atrium: Good question, presently no morphological or etiology studies to answer that question with wide application. Generally something we find on echo and describe. Rarely see it appear when clearly not seen on previous echo, probably most are genetic

No problems caused: Atrial septal aneurysm does not cause any problems. Unlike aortic aneurysms, they do not rupture. They may be associated with atrial septal defects, which may lead to other problems, but by themselves atrial septal aneurysms are not dangerous.

Congenital: Defect in atrial septum development with or without a residual opening hole. Most need no therapy.
