Right: You are correct. The flu starts like a freight train hit you. Sudden onset is one of the clues we are dealing with the flu. Fever, significant muscle aches all over, and cough are the symptoms that are always there.

Sure it can: Occasionally, a patient shows up with sore throat, a mild runny nose, and tests positive for flu a or flu b. Sore throat isn't always just a strep throat or a cold. Many many illnesses have similar symptoms. . . Which is why a person should find a thorough doctor to listen to. Trying to self-diagnose by looking at the symptoms can make a person completely frustrated. Find one good doctor to trust!
