Normal Healing: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). The swelling (edema) involves all the tissues in the area of the injury. When there is a break in the skin, this fluid leaks from the tissues which is normal. As your wound heals, all these signs including the drainage will resolve. Until then apply clean dressings changed every other day.
