Treating IN & OUT: These are both antifungal medicines but Monistat is a topical (intra-vaginal) that is available otc. For common 'yeast infection' it is much easier to take only dose of Diflucan (fluconazole) than using otc Monistat etc... So , taking both just means treating from the inside as well as outside, which is often not needed. This may increase chance of success, but not sure by how much. Consult doc. Good luck.
