I put baking soda, lysine & apple cider vinegar on a cold sore & it swelled up. did i mess up?

No: The lysine was ok, but works much better when swallowed. The acid in the vinegar reacted with the baking soda, foaming up and releasing carbon dioxide. Just stick with swallowing the lysine.
