Injury dependant: Obviously, the more severe the injury, the longer it takes to heal. A complete tear or rupture may need surgery. Fortunately, muscles have fantastic blood supply and so strains, bruising, or minor tears should heal without too much trouble. You should minimize strenuous activity for at least 4-6 weeks and progress slowly. Compression may help with symptoms of swelling and pain.
