A member asked:

Could it be bad for a baby's ears to breastfeed him lying down?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No-: Unlike with a bottle where the milk can tend to reflux into the eustachian tubes, then up to the middle ears when baby laying down, since a breast "collapses down" as you nurse, this type of reflux is less likely to happen with a breast feeding infant. The protective benefits of breast feeding far outweigh any tiny risk of milk reflux to the ears, but it's not likely to happen to any great extent.
