Tight tendons: A common cause of posterior knee pain in adolescents it having tight hamstrings. As one hits puberty, the bones can grow faster than the tendons and muscles. This can lead to pain in the knee cap area, as well as pain in the back of the knee as well. This usually resolves with stretching.
