A member asked:

While a knee has twisted, what could give a sensation of a tight band crossing over the knee cap "snapping" back into place like a rubberband?

Plica: Your description fits that of the relatively uncommon plica or shelf. This can cause popping / catching about the kneecap... However, so can patellar subluxations( kneecap slipping) as well as loose bodies and meniscal ( cartilage tears)( less common). See your ORS for exam and definitive diagnosis . Good Luck!
