RICE then exercises: Initially, rest ice compression and elevation. A small ankle brace is helpful, avoid the stirrup type. Stretching exercises are done first, then strengthening and last balance. My favorite exercise is to walk barefoot very slowly with each step done purposefully ten feet forward then backward. If this is not a challenge then walk with your eyes closed.
