Possibly....: A cast is fine... Some doctors use a splint, brace, taping, cam walkers, air splints or casts, etc. There are many different ways to provide stability during the healing process. It also depends on the severity of the sprain.

Immobilization : Immobilization of any type is good. Cast should wait until swelling reduces. Good luck!
