Yes: Tuberculosis is an infection caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis infecting the lungs. A combination of meds can treat TB if they are taken as prescribed. Tb bug is very slow growing & requires prolonged courses of multiple medications (avg 6-9 mo, 12-18 mo in complicated cases). Most patients stop taking meds once they feel better, leading to development of resistant strains & poor outcomes.
