Multiple sites: Foot arthritis can happen and multiple sites between the 28 bones of the foot. Hindfoot arthritis (below the ankle) can cause a lot of pain and walking problems. Midfoot arthritis is not always so painful and often can be managed with shoewear modifications. Forefoot arthritis is usually well tolerated except at the big toe joint. 1st treatment = shoe modifications and anti-inflammatory meds.
