No way to predict: Depends on degree of direct care and supervision, as the risk factors include thrombophlebitis with potential pulmonary embolism, secondary infections such as pneumonia, and the concurrent risks of additional strokes and even heart attacks. Risk factor management is critical. The first year may well be crucial.
