What is a doctor do when you break/sprain your foot?

Depends: Depends on the severity of the injury. Some fractures are stable and patient's are allowed to walk on them. Other fractures are unstable and require immobilization and possibly even surgery to correct.

Immobilization: Immobilization, prescription for an anti-inflammatory. For a displaced fracture the patient may need to have surgical reduction and fixation.
