Coccyx: The coccyx is the name given to the very very end of the spine. Sometimes this area is referred to as the tailbone. A coccyx disorder can be the result of prolonged pressure resulting in a breakdown in the skin and creating an open wound. This is known as a pressure sore or bed sore.

Coccydynia: Even without trauma or injury, inflammatory changes in the low back can sometimes refer to the para-coccygeal region. The tail-bone area can be very tender to touch and can make sitting a challenge. Frequently injections around the coccyx attachments can make a hugh difference.
