How can you stop itchiness and swelling of a tick bite?

Remove: First i would make sure the tick is removed. The best way is to grasp with a pair of tweezers and pull straight out. Once out, if the are is red, i would apply a topical steroid cream, Hydrocortisone is available otc. Be on the lookout for a red ring around the tick bite, as this can be a signal that you could have lyme disease from the tick. If you suspect this see your doctor. Dr. Lana long.

Cream: I have used a Hydrocortisone cream to help with this, is does help the itch. Swelling is the response to a foreign entity. Stopping the itch will help so the swelling does not get worse. If red and warm to the touch the site may be infected and will need antibiotics.
