Depends on cause: Any time you have a chronic pain, long term relief mandates you find a cause. You can take pain meds, but if there is a knife sticking out of your leg, it's not going to feel better for good until you get the knife out and let the wound heal. You need to start by trying to find the cause of your pain. Talk to your doc about your specific symptoms - when, where, how intense, what makes better/worse.
