That isn't always: True. Although starvation can lead to rapid weight loss due to catabolism of muscle - it can also slow rate of weight loss. This is because staying in starvation mode causes the body to counteract it by dropping the metabolic rate. A slower metabolic rate means it is easier to gain weight and harder to lose it.
