Assuming: You have an obstructing stone your pain may have resolved by a phenomenon called forniceal rupture. In essence, the pressure from obstruction can cause part of the collecting system in the kidney to rupture in a small area and the urine collect around the kidney. The rupture makes the pain go away even though the stone didn't pass.

See below: As the stone travels brought the ureter, there are spots where it does not completely obstruct the flow of urine. If the stone does not block the flow of urine, there is typically no pain. It is common for kidney stone pain to "come and go" in this fashion.
