That's not clear: Stroke certainly can be life threatening, especially if intracranial hemorrhage is associated, (60% mortality by one year). Men may have more complicated risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, high triglycerides, elevated homocysteine, smoking, alcohol abuse, but we surely are seeing many women with similar risk factors.
