Folks don't like you: That you seem to care might mean you don't have it - at least not severely. It would mean that you feel very self-important and worth way more than others. Even if you are smarter, more attractive, etc than those around you, it makes relationships impossible if you're narcissistic. Pds are all hard to change, but if you really want to - good interpersonal indiv tx &/or group tx can really help.

Narcissistic PD : Npd causes difficulty in relationships, because of difficulty empathizing with and authentically caring about others. People with npd are also exquisitely sensitive to perceived slights; they get absorbed in them and are oblivious to others' needs. They expect to be appreciated as special, and require frequent praise. Individual therapy is essential, and group work may also help a lot!

Narcissist: Therapy for narcissists is often arduous, painful for both patient and therapist, as the narcissist is eventually brought to a place of what is known as profound narcissistic injury, which is the beginning of his poor self esteem that the narcissism resolutely defends against. I would opt for psychoanalysis.
