I hear many warnings on commercials about conflicts with ssris and other drugs, does that mean that ssris are unsafe?

Depends: Ssris can cause a rare but serious problem in the baby if taken after 5 months. It is called primary pulmonary hypertension. In addition, women who take ssris during the last month of pregnancy have a higher chance of their baby going to the neonatal intensive care unit at birth because of some breathing issues and jitteriness.

SSRI's: These anti-depressants are generally safe but need to managed by a competent physician who understands the interaction with other medications you may be taking. Also your pharmacist has a list of interactions he or she can make you aware of. Best wishes.
