Where?: In adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, loss of normal thoracic kyphosis is typical. However, in some patients with a kyphoscoliosis, this must be compensated with increased lumbar lordosis. So either may occur in an attempt to balance the head over the center of the hips/pelvis on the frontal and side views. This is the body's normal compensation for spinal deformity.
