A member asked:

Why do i have this real bad smokers cough at night even though i don't smoke?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Think other causes: If you are not exposed to smoke from others, two more common causes of nocturnal (nighttime) cough are acid reflux and allergies. The allergies to dust mites are particularly troublesome at night. Cough from acid reflux usually occurs at night especially if you eat late, use a lot of caffeine, have spicy or acidy, fatty or processed foods.
