It : It sounds like you have a viral infection which caused laryngitis(loss of voice because virus affected your voice box). Then it has moved into bronchitis, which is causing coughing attacks. Feeling of throat closing up and coughing fits could be from bronchospasm, which is due to narrowing and swelling of air ways. I recommend that you should see your physician for treatment. Bronchospasm is treated with albuterol. This medication helps relieve the spasm in the airways, helps the cough too. While this is being treated and it taking time to improve, cough can be suppressed with cough medication too in the mean time. If symptoms are treated, that will give the body chance to rest and divert that energy to fight the infection too.
